Although a free market enterprise system is beneficial in other industries by motivating people to innovate and lower prices, it is detrimental to the health industry. Insurances should not be motivated to deny coverage to anybody simply because they are considered a financial “risk” to the insurer. Insurance companies currently disqualify people because of specific medical conditions. I believe this is unethical given that these people are in need of medical attention, yet are able to receive any. I believe that with universal healthcare individuals will be able to take care of themselves, improving the quality of life.
